Our house in the Auvergne sleeps 12 people and is the village of Murat-Le-Quaire close to the resort town of La Bourboule and ski resort Le Mont Dore and also just minutes from the recently completed N89 Autoroute.
Our house is in 'Le Bourg' the central part of the village, a collection of beautiful old Auvergnian houses with roofs of stone or the traditional oval shaped slates arranged around the village church.
Although little known to the british, the Auvergne in the Massif Central has long been popular with the French. In the winter there is skiing (downhill and cross-country), snow-shoe walking and climbing. In the summer there is fantastic walking and cycling plus swimming in the lakes or at the new swimming pool in La Bourboule, site-seeing and lots of local events.
Throughout the year you'll find great food including local specialities such as Truffade and Potée. Our house, at an altitude of 1,010 metres is extremely quiet with an enclosed south facing garden and views across the valley. The house has been completely refurbished with solid oak floors, staircase and doors. l
It's arranged over three floors. On the ground floor there is a kitchen/diner with a wood burning stove and a large dining table that comfortably seats up to 12 people. There's also a sitting room equipped with Satellite TV, a 40 in flat screen TV and a Wi-fi internet connection...MORE....
